Born in Hartford, Vermont, son of Paul Pitkin and Abigail Lothrop. Move to Ohio; LDS baptism and confirmation by Joseph Smith, 1831; sheriff of Portage County, Ohio; aid to Joseph Smith durin his persecutions; construction of the Nauvoo House, Nauvoo Temple, and the Seventies Hall; exodus west; move to Davis County, Iowa; arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, 1848; settlement in Cottonwood, Utah; move to Ogden, Utah, 1850; removal to Cache Valley, Utah, 1859, to a town later known as Millville; death, 1873.
